Chronic leg ulcers are a major, and costly, healthcare problem that affects about 1% of the Western population. Despite many years of clinical research and different approaches, an effective therapy  remains frustratingly elusive.

We have initiated a randomized clinical study in 5 top academic hospitals in Belgium with the following main endpoints:

      > complete ulcer healing

      > randomized, double blind, placebo controlled
      > 50 patients
      > run-in period of 4 weeks, 8 weeks treatment, 8 weeks follow-up

Recruitment is scheduled to be completed in Q4 2008 and final results will be available mid 2009.
